Microsoft Released update rollup 8 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. You can Access the KB Article here.
One thing worth noting about this update is that update rollup 7 is a prerequisite for Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Data Migration Manager, Thus you need update rollup 7 installed before going ahead with applying update rollup 8.
Also on the customization front, You will be able to export customizations from a server that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 and that has Update Rollup 2, Update Rollup 3, Update Rollup 4, Update Rollup 5, Update Rollup 6, or Update Rollup 7 installed, and then you can import those customizations into a server that has Update Rollup 8 installed. You can also export customizations from a server that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 and that has Update Rollup 8 installed, and then you can import those customizations into a server that has Update Rollup 2, Update Rollup 3, Update Rollup 4, Update Rollup 5, Update Rollup 6 or Update Rollup 7 installed.
